Gas Training Courses at Able Skills

The past week has presented us with yet another case of an unregistered Gas Engineer carrying out gas work after pretending he was a member of the Gas Safe Register. The man responsible was actually the director of a company who offered Gas Services and it should come as a shock to anyone reading this as to just how easy it is to be fooled by someone who claims they have undergone all relevant Gas Training Courses.

The Aylesbury Crown Court heard how the man prosecuted faked his Gas Safe Registration before carrying out gas work on not one but two properties in the Milton Keynes area. The crime took place over 2015 and 2016 and he even went to the extent of placing the Gas Safe Register's logo onto his t-shirt and company van in an attempt to appear fully qualified for the job.

When Was Was He Actually Caught?

The man responsible for poor Gas Work was convicted after faults were found on the installation of a gas boiler following an investigation carried out by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). Their results found that at the time the work was carried out, the so called tradesman wasn't actually a member of the Gas Safe Register.

The work was to such a low standard that the man responsible was found guilty of four offences under the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998. As a result, he is now been ordered to do 300 hours of community service and pay costs of £15,000.

Was It Really Worth It?

The question here is obvious, for the sake of being fined £15,000 and having to spend 300 hours doing work for the community, was it really worth lying about the Gas Qualifications you hold and lying about the Gas Training Courses you've been on. And for those that don't know, these are both ESSENTIAL to actually becoming a Gas Safe Registered Engineer.

Here's What HSE's Inspector Andrew McGill Had To Say:

“Mr ****** undertook gas work which he knew he was not registered to do”.

“HSE will not hesitate to take appropriate action against rogue gas fitters who disregard the law and place lives at risk. Working with gas appliances is difficult, specialised and potentially very dangerous, so it is vital that this is only undertaken by trained and competent engineers who are registered with Gas Safe.”

More Than What People Think

Able Skills Gas Training Courses are Bpec Accredited

It really is a serious subject that people over look. You have to approach this from more than one way. Firstly, the danger it puts the public in speaks for itself and secondly, let this be a lesson to any other rogue traders out there. Measures have been put into place to catch cowboys like them and the punishments will not be taken lightly.
