For anyone looking to work in the construction industry or currently working in the industry and you are planning to take the next step, then why not achieve a construction NVQ.

An NVQ will allow you to work on-site in one of the many different trades and will allow you to take your career to the next level. Achieving a construction NVQ will allow you to get a CSCS Card that you will need to help you make that next step in your career within the construction industry.

The majority of the higher level CSCS cards will require some form of NVQ qualification in the required trade to be able to issue the card to the worker. Employers will now require CSCS cards from a potential employee before employing them. For this reason, making sure you achieve the right level of NVQ is very important to your future within construction.

One of the ways to achieve a construction NVQ is from on-site assessments, meaning an NVQ assessor will come to your place of work and assess you on your performance and knowledge. Also, it is about knowing how to carry out the particular job safely and to a good standard.

Within the lower levels of NVQ you can sometimes achieve the qualification from having as little as three years’ experience in the trade.

At Able Skills we offer the NVQ in tiling, bricklaying, carpentry, decorating and plastering. We don't just do the construction NVQ's at Able Skills, we also offer NVQ's in electrics and plumbing. Each course will give you training in the chosen trade and then you will carry out various assessments and then our assessors will come out and assess you in the workplace.

We also offer an Experience Worker Route, this allows construction workers with five or more years’ experience in a particular trade, but haven’t got an NVQ to gain an NVQ through a profiling session and assessments.

We also offer the OSAT route, this is similar to the Experience Worker Route, and however, instead of completing assessments in our centre the students will need to collect work evidence. Once they have done this they will then require a number of work based assessments from our assessors.
