Tradesmen who are taking renewable energy courses have been reminded of how important consumer confidence is to the future of the green power sector.

A spokeswoman from the Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) stressed that details on schemes such as the renewable heat incentive must be clear.

She explained that anyone considering investing in green technology must be sure they will get a worthwhile return on their capital.

"We must make it highly desirable for public buildings to be turned into energy generators and ensure that confidence in this sector is not diminished by government indecision," noted the CAT representative.

In her opinion, the cuts implemented by the government are "absolutely" hampering growth in the green industry, particularly since renewable energy projects tend to have a significant up-front start-up cost.

The CAT run a visitor centre where people can view live examples of sustainable power solutions such as air source heat pumps, solar panels, wind turbines and solar thermal devices.
