A source has suggested that training - potentially including electrical courses - could help companies to sell more units of LEDs.

Matt Hill, sales development manager at Arrow Electronics, spoke at a recent ARC Show preview event and suggested people need to understand why they would be better off utilising LEDs than conventional lighting solutions.

He explained that training, such as electrical courses, may be required to help firms understand the advantages of such bulbs, including their lower running costs and reduced energy use.

"A lot of it is ... educating both the end user and the manufacturers about how to get the best from the LEDs and how to really utilise the functionality and the benefits," said Mr Hill.

In his opinion, there are a lot of challenges facing the industry, but education is one of the key issues.

The ARC Show is scheduled to take place at the Business Design Centre in London on January 12th and 13th 2011, with several innovations in the lighting industry set to be displayed.
