Electrician Courses decreasing industry accidents!

electrician courses JIB

As the electrical sector grows, more tradesmen are gaining the essential qualifications through electrician courses. This means that more electricians have become knowledgeable in the latest safety regulations, decreasing the risk exposed to themselves as well as to those around them.

Recently, JIB have conducted a survey of accidents at work. Such report has shown that the 2017 accident incidence rate (AIR) for reportable accidents is less than 10% of what it was in 2001.

JIB further reported that this highly impressive statistic highlights the continuing commitment from electrical courses to reduce accidents in the workplace, following the JIB, ECA and Unite the Union’s major industry-wide ‘ZAP’ safety initiative which launched several years ago.

ECA director Paul Reeve, responsible for health and safety commented, “These excellent safety statistics are the lowest ever recorded in our industry. Even so, it’s clear that accidents linked to work at height and housekeeping remain the main site safety issues.

ECA, working with industry partners and Unite, is currently chairing a working group (part of HSE’s recently-constituted ‘Managing Risk Well’ Group) that aims to reinvigorate concise, good practice advice on work at height. We aim to produce practical outputs that will help designers, clients, managers, supervisors and operatives to tackle the causes of this persistent category of site accident.”

Its great to know that the health and safety information covered in our electrician courses have successfully crossed over into the real world. Designing an engaging environment is what we find key to ensuring students fully understand the risks of their trade. Alongside the theory and practical part of the courses, health and safety should never be overlooked and we're glad the topic is being taken seriously nationwide.

Such detail on not only on our electrician courses, but courses across our whole centre, is heavily thought of and its no coincidence as to why we remain number one in providing electrician courses as well as other construction courses across all trades.
