Tradespersons who have taken electrician training courses could find themselves in demand to implement a new development for the Greater Manchester Police Authority (GMPA).

It was revealed today (February 19th) that plans for new divisional headquarters (HQ) worth £35 million, to be built for the organisation by a joint venture consisting of Ask Developments and Goodman - called Ask:Goodman - have been given the green light.

The 240,000-sq ft facility will be constructed on the Central Park in Newton Heath, where Fujitsu Services and the Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Trust have already signed up for new units.

It is expected work will be complete on the building in March 2011.

Commenting on the news, Ask Developments director David Burkinshaw, said: "Securing another HQ building for GMP is another successful step forward for the park."

Workers with approved electrical qualifications could find that they are needed to help with the fit-out of the building and installation of top-of-the-range technology in the facility.
