As the world develops new ideas everyday it comes with new jobs and production. Electrical Vehicles are a huge part of the current climate and future, along with this charging points for these new vehicles will be installed all over the country. This has opened an opportunity for Electricians and Domestic Installers to upskill and install EV charging points. This means City & Guilds have developed EV Charging Courses for the installation of all charging equipment.

Here at Able Skills, we have been working hard developing and building installation bays for our new upcoming EV Charging Courses. We are now very excited to be offering two different aspects of EV Charging courses. We will lay out the difference of each programme and explain why there are two different options available rather than just the stand-alone course.

City & Guilds 2919-01 – Level 3 Award in Domestic, Commercial and Industrial Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation

This is a 2-day programme aimed at experienced Electricians and those fully qualified to install circuits and carry out inspection and testing on all electrical installations. Providing you are successful with the course you will be qualified to take on installations of electric vehicle charging points in the commercial and domestic sector. This will include home charging points, street charging points and shopping centre charging points.

Throughout the 2-day programme you will be taught how to design, specify, install, fault find, test and inspect electric vehicle charging points. Also, you will carry out an open book, multiple choice online exam, along with a practical assessment.

City & Guilds 2919-02 Level 3 Award in Domestic Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation

This is a slightly longer version as a 4-day programme and is aimed at Domestic Installers that are registered onto a competent scheme with an awarding body and want to learn how to design, specify, install, fault find, test and inspect electric vehicle charging points.

They will carry out the same assessment and exam within the 4 days, however, more training will be provided.

On successful completion they will be able to install and test electrical vehicle charging points on domestic properties.

Requirements for both courses:

Every student will need to be up to date with the latest building regulations and the latest 18th Edition wiring regulations. Also, comply with the requirements of each individual course, which is stated in the above text.

EV Charging courses will be coming to Able Skills very soon, so keep an eye out on our website and social media channels for updates.
