Workers who have taken electrical courses could benefit from calls by the Federation of Master Builders (FMB) for the government to invest in job creation.

According to the body, chancellor of the exchequer Alistair Darling needs to make funding for the construction industry and job prospects priorities in his Budget, set to be announced tomorrow (March 24th).

Director general of the organisation - which was established more than 60 years ago - Richard Diment said he believes the UK economy can recover if the building sector is supported, as it is a significant driver of growth in many different areas.

In addition, he stated it is extremely important people do not lose their jobs - which could result in a big skills gap - and that the housing "crisis" in Britain is rectified.

"Getting the housing market back on its feet is the key to get Britain building again as it would sustain the jobs of thousands of apprentices and tens of thousands of construction workers," Mr Diment added.
