There may be more demand for renewable energy courses in the UK after the government published a report relating to its microgeneration strategy.

Energy and climate change minister Greg Barker explained that the coalition has worked alongside industry representatives in order to prompt a "revolution" in the production of sustainable power.

Among the changes made are a reduction in red tape in relation to micro hydro initiatives and plans to improve the Microgeneration Certification Scheme process.

Mr Barker said: "We want to help people who are enthusiastic to generate their own energy matched by an industry with the desire, creativity and tenacity to grow in a sustainable and responsible way."

A comprehensive feed-in tariff review will take place later this summer.

The government this week announced that it is pushing forward with three recommendations made by the Chief Nuclear Inspector following the catastrophe in Fukushima, Japan, including carrying out an assessment of the country's response to the events.
