The modular housing market is currently growing, according to one construction expert - news which may be of interest to people who are studying green energy courses.

Kevin Arthur, development surveyor for modular homes and offsite construction company Elements Europe, said that people are starting to realise that manufacturing houses offsite enables building to take place in a fast, high-quality and affordable manner.

His comments follow the exhibition of several types of modular home at the recent Grand Designs Live 2009 in Birmingham, which may be because they are thought to be an eco-friendly option.

"We've got full traceability of our products. We can follow the tree, which goes into the saw mill, those timbers are then dispatched to a component manufacturer and then come to Elements Europe," stated Mr Arthur.

The company then assembles the parts and is therefore able to monitor the origins of every piece of timber.
