These are strange times and nobody could have expected or have been prepared for this year. It is obvious that coronavirus has had a tremendous effect on almost every business imaginable. Even the trade industry has seen some struggles in getting materials for example, however, the trade industry has bounced back quicker than most and overall jobs in the trade industry are very secure. With many people still on furlough are re-evaluating their current line of work, there has never been a better time to re-train! We all know the idea of changing careers is nerve-wracking and daunting especially if you have had the same job for a number of years. How do I approach a career change through Plumbing courses?

Where would I even start?

Firstly, if you are thinking about a career as a professional plumber but you are not completely sure then you shouldn't jump straight into full-time training with us. Instead you should get a taste of the course through our Introduction to Plumbing course - This 5-day option will help you to understand the fundamentals, get hands-on with the basics and decide if the trade is right for you or not! This could beneficial for you if your are interested in the trade but have little or no experience.

However, if you are certain that what you want to be doing is working towards being a professional plumber then you should be looking to achieve an industry-recognised qualification. Our City & Guilds Level 2 Plumbing course is the perfect starting point for any aspiring plumber. This 6-week option has been specifically designed  The qualification forms the basis of knowledge for all modern domestic plumbing and is therefore an great way to gain a foundation of both theory and hands-on practical experience to build upon. The course will cover topics like:

  • Pipe-work
  • Bathroom installations
  •  Electrical principles and processes
  • Common plumbing processes
  • Cold water systems
  • Domestic hot water systems
  • Sanitation
  • Central heating systems
  • Drainage systems
  • And much more

It is never too late to make a change in your career. Plumbing training here at our centre is open to anybody over the age of 18 that wants to learn. After working tha same job for 5+ years for example, you may feel histent and scared to make a change especially with the worries of coronavirus, family, mortgage and so on. It is important to take your time to before making a decision but you can be certain that we will make the process as straightforward as possible preparing you as best we can. We have been teaching and helping students launch new careers for almost 20-years we know what goes into taking you from a novice level to being confident and ready to start work.

When can I start?

We currently have spaces left on the course starting on the 22nd of March and April 19th either give us a call on 01322 280 202 or come and visit our centre in person. You  can also secure your place online - To apply online through our website head to the top of the page and click on 'Courses' from there you can see our entire range, simply find the City & Guilds Level 2 Plumbing course or any training that you are interested in and select the green button marked "Reserve your Space" from there you can see the available starting date and fill in your details.

Want to get started sooner?

If you would prefer to get started learning the trade sooner, then you do have the option of taking on our Home-Study Plumbing Level 2 course - This option allows you to get started working towards this qualification from home! You will effectively replace the instructor with our 'Home-Study Pack' for the theory side of the course, study at home before attending the centre to learn the practical side and to complete the relevant assessments. We are very busy at the moment and it will take some time before you can attend for your 20-days of hands on training, however, we do suggest that you take your time with the 'Home-Study Pack' and test yourself with the included test questions over a period of at least 6-weeks.
