Tradespersons who have taken electrician training courses and have consequently earned their approved electrical qualifications could find that increasing numbers of homebuyers require their services when moving into a new property.

According to figures from the Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML), 55,300 mortgages were agreed during October, which is a growth of nine per cent from the previous month and a 43 per cent annual rise.

Michael Coogan, director general of the CML, commented on the reasons why the figures may have seen an increase in the last few months.

"It appears that low interest rates for those with substantial deposits, coupled with this year's sustained increases in house prices, are encouraging more people to buy or move home," he said.

Electricians, plumbers and other industry professionals are often called upon to perform repair and maintenance work - or add upgrades - to new properties and these rising statistics could mean more tradespersons find themselves in demand in the near future.
