Three lines of products made by paint manufacturer, Johnstone’s, have come out on top in some demanding new product trials.

Johnstone’s has been developing its trade paint solutions in the UK since 1890 and these new accolades will serve to enhance the company’s esteemed reputation as a leading supplier for professional painters and decorators.

Johnstone's Stormshield Smooth Masonry products were determined as having the top anti-carbonating properties by the Building Research Establishment (BRE), following extensive industry testing. The properties mean that the paint and coatings range provides concrete and stone with high resistance to carbon dioxide and carbonation.

The brand’s Microbarr products recently flew through a series of industry tests that pitted them against industrial cleaning products used in hospitals and other highly sanitary environments. The Microbarr products were developed using proven silver technology that can protect against 150 forms of bacteria.

Thirdly, Johnstone’s Covaplus, Aqua Gloss and Acrylic Eggshell products were tested by the BRE in line with London Underground's toxic fume criteria and achieved the requirements of BS 6853 :1999. The result means the products have been added to the relatively short list of products that are sanctioned for use on the London Underground network.

Johnstone’s Trade marketing manager, Megan Esmond, said that the recognitions demonstrate the consistently high quality of Johnstone’s products.

“Johnstone’s is dedicated to continually testing and improving its products and this recent influx of certification further cements that philosophy,” she said. “It’s especially rewarding to see that the hard work of our technical department is paying off when external bodies and organisations see fit to award our products with their accreditation.”
