During the summer months we were extremely busy here at Able Skills with lots of students completing courses across our centre. Two of these students were Sister In-Laws, Kate and Ella, they are now back and ready for more training.
Kate and Ella were first at Able Skills back in August when they completed an Introduction to Plastering Course. After enjoying the course so much they decided to book another course and they are now here again completing the Introduction to Plumbing Course.
The original reason for the course was to help them renovate both their new homes and after the plastering course they just wanted to come back for more. During the time between both courses they have been hard at working with their new plastering skills working on their homes and have some great pictures to show for it.
As both Kate and Ella are currently on Maternity leave they decided to make the most of their time and get some skills to build up their new homes and they are now looking much further. Property Development is on their minds and after their plumbing course they are going to look at carpentry and bricklaying courses.
So far, the work on each other’s houses has gone well and is all great practice. They have found a real sense of achievement from the work they are carrying out in their own homes.
Both are from Kent in Ashford and Ramsgate and they meet every morning to travel down and complete their courses with us.
With more females now getting involved in construction we are seeing a huge increase in female students deciding to train and learn a trade. However, with the construction industry being massively male dominated, it can put women off. Ella and Kate are among so many women that are now seeing the construction industry as a potential career path.
We would like to wish Ella and Kate all the best for the future and we hope to see them again soon at our centre!
