Construction contractors in the Kirklees area have been called on to put themselves forward to be part of a new housing project to enhance the council property portfolio in the area.

The Excellent Homes for Life housing project, which is being run by Wates Living Space for Kirklees Council, is seeking specialist tradesmen and construction professionals to take part in the project, which will see the construction of around 466 new council homes.

The regional managing director for Wates Living Space, Joanne Jamieson, said that they wanted to engage local professionals in the project and would be looking for people skilled in a range of disciplines, including metal work, tiling and scaffolding.

“From the outset it has been our aim to utilise our presence on this project to truly benefit local trades and the local workforce,” she said. “We are holding this event to therefore specifically target local businesses across Kirklees and integrate them into our supply chain. This will allow us to identify strengths in the market and deliver quality homes for Kirklees tenants.”
