Having done a very quick Google search for ‘Level 3 Plumbing Courses’ it became quite apparent very quickly that there doesn’t seem to be much provision available for this training option, particularly amongst private training providers.

This seems to me to be a very good opportunity to promote the Level 3 Plumbing Courses that we DO offer at Able Skills.

Our level 3 City & Guilds 6035 is the natural next step for any individual who has an existing level 2 Plumbing qualification.

We offer this particular training option either on a full time basis in 8 weeks or on a part-time basis at weekends.

To enhance the level 3 package, we have built a Gas Managed Learning Programme in to the course which is the first step towards becoming Gas Safe registered. In addition, we provide certification for WRAS (Water Regulations), Part L Energy Efficiency and G3 Unvented Hot Water Storage Systems.

The facility that we have built to accommodate this course is second to none and the envy of a few.

The training centre has 6 bays for students to install a simulated, gas fired, sealed heating system which includes:

  • A working boiler
  • An unvented hot water cylinder
  • Radiators on a first floor and
  • A downstairs under-floor heating system.

Students can also install the central heating wiring and controls.

Our under floor heating system is covered with Perspex so the pipe layout can be seen. There is also a working shower room installation with a saniflo macerator for students to commission and fault find typical faults that can occur in a waste water system.

There are different types of shower pumps for students to install and test, as well as a working heating system to simulate typical heating system faults and defective heating controls which students can correct.

In addition, there are 3 smaller bays where students can find faults on unvented hot water systems, correct wrongly installed taps, install pressure reducing valves and set the valve to the correct pressure.

The centre is heavily supported by Main boilers, Drayton heating controls and Polypipe.

This course is a fantastic opportunity for those plumbers who want to progress with their plumbing skills and knowledge with the option to move towards working in the gas industry and this course is also the required underpinning certification for those looking to achieve NVQ at level 3.

This course has regular intake dates and we keep the class sizes to a maximum of 10 students. Payment for this course can be paid via a deposit and then instalments however; we are also approved for the 24+ loan for which some of these course fees are eligible.
