Online Electrician courses, what about the practical skills?

So, here at Able Skills we can currently only bring in a limited amount of students into our facility. Many of these students had their courses paused on lockdown or had courses already booked. However, we are still taking on students through our 'Home-Study' options - These courses for both Level 2 & 3 are our answer to online electrician courses. Today, we want to outline how these work, what the process is like and what you'll learn from the practical side when you eventually attend the centre.

How does a Home-Study option work?
These options work by splitting the qualifications into two parts, theory and practical. Instead of learning the theory side of the trade from one of our instructors you will learn entirely from our Home-Study pack at home, at your own pace taking as much time as you need. Each pack will contain everything you need to know about the relevant qualification, they will include things like the formulas, definitions, diagrams and much more. They will also include test questions so that you can challenge yourself as you study. We will also send you in addition to this the relevant City & Guilds textbooks, access to the online learning platform SmartScreen and finally contact details for one of our experts in case you become stuck.

Then when you feel you have good understanding of the theory, you'll contact us to arrange the next step, practical training. When looking to become an electrician the first course would be our City & Guilds Level 2 course. In this case for our Home-Study Level 2 course we have a 4-week practical program devised specifically to cover the requirements of all of the practical aspects of the qualification; we have identified a number of weeks throughout the year for each of the 4-weeks and we will provide you with a timetable of all of the dates. Just choose the weeks you would like to attend, call us and we will book you in.
As you can see in the video above, our workshops are designed for individuals to gain hands-on practical skills in their own electrical bays. Each equipped with the necessary tools and equipment. During the practical side of our 'Home-Study' options you'll be accompanied by our expert instructors who will guide you through many different tasks in an effort to teach you the correct methods for; steel cable tray techniques, steel trunking, steel conduit power installation, installing lighting and so much more. Effectively, these courses will teach you to become an electrician from scratch!
