"I have recently completed my City & Guilds Painting and Decorating Course with Able Skills and I am now working towards my NVQ Level 2.
I am writing this review, as my experience with Able Skills from beginning to end has been great. I came down to the centre prior to booking, so I knew what I was getting myself into. The admin staff were very happy to answer any questions I had about the course and centre in general. I was taken around the centre and got to talk to the students and the instructor personally, which gave me a real feel of what I was getting into before parting with my money. I was not made to feel pressured into booking when I visited either, and was instead left to make a decision on my own, and I called a few days later to book my course.
I chose Able Skills over some of the other training centres I found, as I found their website looked the most professional, which was easy to navigate. The free brochure that I requested through the site, gave me a great summary of the courses I was interested in, and made it a lot easier for me to narrow my choices down.
Mark has been an amazing and supportive instructor throughout my course. I’m still in shock at how much I have learned in my short time at the centre! He would always go the extra mile with all his students, and answered any questions I had - no matter how many times I asked!! The teaching process was very well planned and organised and the tools and products used throughout the course were of a high quality and we were never scrimping and scraping on materials. After finishing my training, I feel confident enough to go self –employed as a Painter and Decorator, while I work towards my NVQ Level 2.
I chose to split my training up, on a week on, week off basis, so I could fit it in easier around my work schedule, so I could earn money while I trained. I had to pay a balance every week I came into the centre to train, so spreading my training over a few months, also made it more affordable for me.
This experience for me has been completely life changing, I am now my own boss, and I absolutely love what I’m doing again!! Since finishing my training, I really believe that you’re never too old, or inexperienced to change your career path.
