Plumber training courses may benefit Kickstart projects

Workers who have gained their approved plumbing qualifications could find that their services are needed to help with a raft of new construction projects, following the announcement of new Kickstart funding.

The Kickstart Housing Delivery scheme was included in the 2009 Budget and is a £400 million programme aimed at financing building developments that have stalled as a result of the recession.

And the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), along with housing minister John Healey, recently revealed that more than 5,000 new and affordable homes will be unlocked thanks to the assessment of the first tranche of schemes for a share of the second round of funding.

Commenting on the news, Sir Bob Kerslake, chief executive of the HCA, said: "With over 6,000 new and affordable homes now on their way to being completed through Round 1 of the Kickstart programme, this second round of funding will help many more schemes get back on track."
