Why Is There Such A Shortage In Plumbers?

Well, it's a generational problem. The majority of workers in this industry are approaching retirement age and as these workers get older there are less and less young people taking up the trade resulting in a gap. Young people of today have a different perception of what this kind of work is all about and do not see great opportunity within skills like plumbing. Years ago, boys and girls were introduced to the trades industry and trained for apprenticeship opportunities through their schools and so on. Today the focus is on other things and therefore the whole trades industry as a whole is feeling the effects of less people being interested in skill like this.

This doesn't mean to say that this opinion is correct. In actuality the trade industry is booming in terms of the huge amount of opportunity, developments, demand and so on. People can earn fantastic money taking up a skill such as plumbing. In fact, the average weekly pay for plumbers right now is just under £1,400. Despite misconceptions of being somewhat beneath other professions from a young persons point of view, a job in plumbing is a viable and important career path. Plumbers have never been in such high demand!
