Tradesmen who have taken plumbing courses could utilise a new product released by CME Sanitary Systems to make their job easier.

According to the company, 'extendable elbows' are effective and easy to install, making toilet installation simpler.

"Our extendable elbows are extremely versatile and have been designed to make the whole process of connecting the WC pan to the soil pipe as straightforward as possible," explained product manager at CME Derek Wort.

The device features a sloping inlet, rigid metal frame and smooth bore, as well as a wide span that extends between 245mm and 405mm.

Engineers will also note the detachable push-fit fin seal, which helps with solvent weld installation.

This week, the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineers urged plumbers to revisit their training to check they remember what to do if they encounter asbestos.

Acting chief executive Kevin Wellman lamented the number of people contracting mesothelioma as a result of exposure to the substance.
