Several students attending plumbing courses at a Yorkshire education centre have been handed prizes for their efforts.

Stuart Taylor, Mustafa Altin, Jonathan Cambridge, Ben Harrison and Adrian Bottomley won accolades at York College's annual construction awards, reported the York Press.

Speaking to the publication, the school's head of division for construction Kevin Clancy predicted that the students on plumbing courses and other training will make a real difference to the country's economy.

"The forecasted growth in construction, as the economy comes out of recession, will create job opportunities for people with the right skills," he told the newspaper.

Mr Clancy explained that the annual awards ceremony is a great way to recognise the efforts of outstanding pupils.

Professional plumbers may choose to visit EH Smith's retail store in Longbridge this week, since there will be free goodies including bacon butties handed out to celebrate the launch of the company's line of plumbing and heating products.
