Two Grimsby plumbing course attendees have showed their skill to progress in a pair of trade competitions.

According to the Grimsby Telegraph, Tom King and Tim Coney are through to the finals of Hip-Ex and SkillPlumb UK, with the contests due to take place in May and June 2011 respectively.

"I was over the moon to win. I really didn't expect it to happen. I know the final's going to be really hard," Mr King told the publication.

The pair of students took first and second place at the regional heats of the Hip-Ex competition.

Mr Coney explained to the newspaper that he chose to take a plumbing course because he has always been good with his hands.

He showed his confidence by stating that he believes he can win the contests.

Independent Online writer Don McAlistair recently urged people considering undertaking plumbing work to plan carefully, so that their improvements cater for the whole household's needs.
