A construction expert has suggested that the technology being used by workers is progressing, which may mean engineers could benefit from plumbing courses to stay abreast of developments.

Vernon Pethard, founder of newhomesforsale.co.uk, explained that builders aim to find ways of incorporating recyclable materials in new properties and utilise the latest techniques to ensure that complexes are created in the greenest manner possible.

He said: "Builders are continually researching environmentally-friendly ways of construction, better methods of heating, insulating and providing white goods and appliances with the highest possible energy ratings."

Workers may find that that plumbing courses allow them to stay up to date with the sort of new techniques being utilised by engineers at the forefront of the sector.

Housing minister Grant Shapps recently put forward a series of suggestions as to how construction companies could meet ambitious eco-standards by 2016, such as the possibility of builders helping to fund renewable energy projects.
