asbestosA very popular route we are now seeing at our centre in Dartford is students coming in to complete a number of courses with the idea of becoming a Property Developer. Due to the demand for this we have devised a Property Development package that incorporates all the courses need to get you started. However, when becoming a Property Developer, you’ll need to be aware of a number of things and one of those is Asbestos.

When working as a Property Developer, there is a high chance you could come across Asbestos in homes that were built prior to 1977. Asbestos is used as an insulationand many other building products within homes and can be found in many different materials, however, it can bring dangers to health and was therefore banned in 1977.

Here is a piece taken from the HSE website:

“When materials that contain asbestos are disturbed or damaged, fibres are released into the air. When these fibres are inhaled they can cause serious diseases. These diseases will not affect you immediately; they often take a long time to develop, but once diagnosed, it is often too late to do anything. This is why it is important that you protect yourself now.”

Diseases can include:

  • Mesothelioma
  • Asbestos-related lung cancer
  • Asbestosis
  • Pleural thickening

Many people now understand that the dangers of Asbestos can be extremely damaging to health and measures are often taken to prevent any danger.

Our students that take our Property Development course have a high chance of working within properties that may contain Asbestos and we want to make sure they know the dangers.

The Property Development package has set many people along the way to becoming great property developers and we are continually seeing more people book this as an option. With many different courses and trades included it covers all areas that will allow you to go out and complete the work needed when developing a property.
