Workers with PV training qualifications in the Yorkshire and Humberside regions could soon get to work on a new project.

Efficiency North has announced a new scheme which will see 213,000 homes in the areas fitted with new renewable energy panels.

The social housing consortium is looking to create a framework of companies with employees who have undergone PV training, with six businesses expect to work on the year-long task.

Carl Bairstow, project manager for Efficiency North, explained there has been considerable interest from social landlords "wanting to get the best value offers they can from the growing PV developer market without the need for client investment".

He added many are eager to find a way of offering these services, without finding the need for their tenants to pay some of the cost.

Efficiency North represents modern and efficient social landlords and is hosted by Sheffield City Council, with an executive board of asset management professionals drawn from councils and housing authorities across the region.
