Electrician training courses give people the chance to work in a job that is both diverse and interesting.

That is the opinion of Matthew Williams, who recently told the Mirror about his endeavours as a trainee tradesperson and how much he enjoys his work now that he is fully qualified.

He explained to the publication that he started out as an apprentice working for an electrical company at the age of just 14 and as soon as he discovered what the job entailed, he did not look back.

"No two days are ever the same, which makes it really interesting. I particularly love the problem-solving element of the job – you never know what you'll come across," he said.

Mr Williams added that he went on to be recognised for all his hard work by receiving the Electrical Contractors Association (ECA) Edmundson Apprentice of the Year award in 2009.

The ECA was established over a century ago and is a trade association representing electrical, electronic, installation engineering and building services companies.
