tiling courseAble Skills warmly welcomes anyone to see what we can offer especially when it means pursuing a new career. Today we spoke to Richard Goddard who is studying towards his 4 Week DIY Tiling Course. Before we found out his opinion on the course, Richard tells us what he was doing before and how it lead to training at our centre. What you find out may just surprise you!

Richard previously bred horses for high profile shows such as the Coronation Cup and Royal Ascott! After having a very successful career Richard now sets his eyes on launching his on tiling business. The reason for the change came about after unfortunately being made redundant due to circumstances outside of his control.

With no regrets Richard said he enjoyed what did and wants to continue making a living doing what he enjoys. He says he had done several jobs at home and always loved working on his own house improvements especially when it came to tiling. In the above video, Richard states he read our reviews online which encouraged him to enroll on to a tiling course here at Able Skills. Such independent reviews can be read here.

The 4 Week DIY Tiling Course allows students to grasp the basics before getting a hands on feel for more complex tiling work including Natural Stone Tiling. Not only is this course great for aspiring tilers, but this boasts great skill development for Plumbers and Kitchen Fitters who seek to offer a broader service for clients.

The course is taught in the following stages:

Week 1 - This consists of our Introduction to Tiling Course. This initial week covers the basics of tiling both floor and wall areas as well as understanding how to plan the work ahead.

Weeks 2 - Here is where students begin to learn what more complex tiling work involves. It allows for students to improve their efficiency as a tiler as well as increasing your confidence.

Week 3 - Students will earn their City & Guilds certificate and work portfolio providing they are successful on the assessment presented in this week.

Week 4 - The final week sees our instructors teaching you how to lay both marble and slate tiling.

With the contents of the course outlined as above, students really do have the space to forecast their progression as the facilities allow for individual work and then-some as pictured below:

For many it is often the quality of teaching that really helps to keep us engaged, but to more importantly to make sure we learn. All of our instructors, regardless of the trade, offer great experience and are a true reflection of Able Skills.

Richard had nothing but praise for his teachers in his above review stating they are, 'fantastic' and that he 'can't fault them'. He went on to say how patient they were and how 'they explain everything really easily'. We are overwhelmed at Richard's experience of us here and can't wait to see how the future turns out for him. All the best Richard!
