Workers who have finished renewable energy courses may be interested in a new form of solar panel which has been developed.

Tata Steel has revealed a new product which works like cladding to help produce electricity for a building.

Created in conjunction with Australian firm Dyesol, the product is in the form of a coating which is applied to steel and can be used to generate power even on cloudy days.

Applied across the surface of a building, it works in a similar manner to a photovoltaic cell and creates electricity in a comparable method to how plants photosynthesise.

Peter Strikwerda, managing director of Tata Steel Colors, said: "We will significantly accelerate technical progress with the objective of establishing a product, process and supply chain that can be successfully commercialised."

Although it has created this product, people who are doing a renewable energy course could be interested to hear Tata Steel is opening a centre in Wales to solely focus on developing new forms of sustainable technologies.
