Interest in renewable energy courses could increase after the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) called for further targets to be put in place for after 2020.

Arthouros Zervos, president of the industry organisation, made his remarks at the opening of a major conference in Brussels, saying the "success story" of this form of green power must be continued in the long term.

The EWEA spokesperson's comments may prompt more technicians to take renewable energy courses so they are capable of installing and maintaining certain pieces of equipment.

"We must ensure that the renewable energy targets established in 2001 and 2009 are replicated for the period after 2020 with ambitious 2030 targets," added Mr Zervos.
