Technicians studying electrical courses may find new employment opportunities on the site of the Scottish National Arena, which is set to be constructed by Bovis Lend Lease (BLL).

John Sharkey, chief executive of the organisation behind the sports stadium, the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC), hailed BLL's track record after the announcement was made.

He suggested the company is perfectly capable of turning the SECC's vision into a reality, with technicians who have completed electrical courses also likely to be needed during the construction process.

"It is our commitment to work with the very best in the business to achieve our vision for the Scottish National Arena as one of the world's leading venues," said Mr Sharkey.

The venue will be located along the River Clyde in Glasgow and form an integral part of the city's Commonwealth Games event in 2014.

Tangent Graphic was hired recently by the team organising the sporting occasion, so as to develop an effective brand for the contest.
