Heating solution company Baxi has welcomed the new boiler scrappage scheme, which could create jobs for a multitude of workers who have taken plumber training courses.

The initiative was officially launched by the Department of Energy and Climate Change on Tuesday (January 5th) and is expected to help the environment, create thousands of jobs and reduce the amount of money spent by homeowners on energy bills.

It will be available to around 125,000 homes and will offer those with old, energy-inefficient, G-rated boilers a grant of £400 to get a buy a new eco-friendly appliance.

According to Baxi's chief executive officer Mark Kelly, the programme could prove hugely beneficial.

"The boiler scrappage scheme gives a real opportunity for households to upgrade their current boiler to the most efficient available," he said.

Workers with approved plumbing qualifications could find themselves in demand to implement the scheme and install many of the new appliances being bought by Britons.
