People who are currently completing or have recently graduated from electrician courses may find that searching for jobs using speciality websites could help them in their search for employment.

David Pullinger, head of digital policy at the Central Office of Information, told the Kable Public Sector Online conference that according to new plans, job ads will soon be made available on public-sector website Directgov.

He added that such advertisements will appear "in semantic markup" which means that they can be easily re-used by other sites and groups.

Mr Pullinger said: "If you are interested in electrician jobs, you should go to a site that specialises in electrician jobs, whether they are in the public or private sector."

Earlier this week, it was reported that Carolyn Corcoran, who was the only woman and only mature student on her electrician course at a local college in Tameside, has been hired as Trafford Housing Trust's first female electrician.
