What are the Home-Study courses?

Home-Study courses are training options that start at home. Usually, we keep a balance between theoretical aspects and the practical hands-on side, however, with our Home-Study options, you will study the theory side of the course in your own time, at your own pace. You will effectively replace the instructor with our 'Home-Study Pack' which will include all of the information, calculations and general theory you need for the relevant qualification. The pack will be sent to your address, you should take a minimum of 6-weeks studying what's been provided until you feel confident that you understand everything. Once you're ready, you will then contact us and book 4-weeks (4-weeks for the Level 2 & 3-weeks for the Level 3) of practical learning here in our workshops. These weeks should be spread out, you will also take on the relevant exams during those weeks in our dedicated exam centre. We realised that not everybody has the time to commit to a full-time course so we devised a Home-Study option for certain courses that allow for a reduced amount of time needed at the centre. Here's a quick look at the practical side of the courses...

What's the difference?

Well, the only difference between taking on a Home-Study option and a traditional course is that you learn the theory at home. When it comes to what you learn it will be the exact same, with the City & Guilds Level 2 course, for example, you will effectively learn to become an electrician from scratch, starting with the fundamentals and working towards more advanced aspects of the trade. You will achieve the exact same City & Guilds qualification if successful and be taught by the very same instructors as you would on the regular course. The Home-Study option may take a much longer time to complete depending on how long you take with the 'Home-Study pack' and the availability of dates for your 4-weeks of practical training but overall you will experience the same quality of training.
