Students thoughts on our Home-Study Electrician courses!

Unfortunately, we have had to put a pause on our at centre training. This lockdown period however seems like the last as many people across the country are receiving their vaccinations, we are looking forward to getting back to doing what we do best which is preparing our students for brand new careers in the trade industry and helping experienced professionals gain that next level of knowledge and ability. In the meantime we are providing Home-Study courses including options for Electrician courses. These courses start at home allowing you to learn the theory side of electrics from the comfort of your own home. Obviously you cannot learn the trade without getting hands-on and eventually those students will return to our centre when it is possible to do so. Today we want to take a look at some feedback and thoughts from students who have taken on this route...

Students thoughts on our Home-Study Electrician courses!

Feedback:

"Amazing course done via home study route.. very nice and convenient for people with tight schedules - Great customer service when dealing with issues and generally helping me learn the trade. The teachers have been patient both over the phone and in person and the staff are very engaged in what's going on at the centre. I needed a way to gain industry-recognised, legit qualifications with a limited schedule and this option is perfect!" - H Mahod

"Excellent service and very accommodating to people’s needs. - The instructors are very knowledgeable and well skilled in teaching with a good sense of humour. The course is well structured, delivered well and the course materials are top notch. The course is great value for money and I would definitely take courses with this centre again, they really know what they are doing and how to teach at a good pace that suits beginners in the trade. I have learnt a lot, thank you." - M Freeman

"Great fast service. Friendly and easy to understand and to get along. Accommodation had everything you needed and had a well good nights sleep. 10/10. Tutor was brilliant and made understandings of the course a lot easier than imagined. Learnt so much in the weeks. I'm now looking forward to taking what I’ve learnt and experienced, out into the real world of electrics! This is a great place to learn and I highly recommend this centre for anyone interested in electrics." - D Potter

"Every member of the team was helpful and knowledgeable would recommend to anybody who wants to train there. The staff and the instructors are knowledgeable, friendly and ready to help, they seem engaged with the students and on the ball about the industry. I really enjoyed the course with tutors being so experienced and understanding.  I have learnt so much during my time here and wouldn't train anywhere else in the future." - D Kingston

"The practical part of the course was well-structured and easy to understand, and the lecturers are well-informed and approachable if you have any questions. I was a complete novice at the practical side so it would have been useful if the staff had spent a few minutes explaining how and when to use certain equipment (e.g. different types of screws) as I think there was an underlying assumption that we all knew which wasn't the case. But other than that, this was a superb course and I would recommend Able Skills to everybody." - S Turner

What are Home-Study options?

Since we can temporarily not teach courses in person we have increased the capacity for our remote training options for Electricians. We offer a Home-Study option for both our City & Guilds Level 2 and our City & Guilds Level 3 Electrical courses. These options are a way to begin your training journey from home, we will provide you with the relevant City & Guilds textbooks, our bespoke 'Home-Study pack' as well as access to the online learning platform Smartscreen and finally contact details for one of our electrical instructors. With these resources you will have everything you need to gain a good understand of the fundamentals of electrical theory. We recommend at least 6-weeks to fully absorb everything provided.

What about the practical side?

Once it is safe to do so you will attend our centre in person to learn the practical side of the courses gaining the necessary hands-on skills and understanding of a range of different topics. You'll need to attend for 4-weeks for Level 2 and or 3-weeks for the Level 3 qualification. Additionally, you will take on the relevant assessments in our dedicated exam room. You will learn a lot on these courses and they are no different in terms of the content compared to our traditional courses, for example, through the level 2 route you'll take on many different practical tasks such as; steel cable tray techniques, steel trunking, basic technique, preliminary steel conduit, steel conduit power installation, lighting circuits, power circuits and much more! The courses that we offer are intensive but are taught by instructors who know what they are doing, know what pace to teach at and have many years of experience both teaching and working out in the industry.
