Able Skills always encourages our students to be the best they can be and today we look at how three Black Cab Drivers are on their way to taking over the Plumbing industry. It was on our City and Guilds Accredited Level 2 Plumbing Course where Tony, Marc and Jamie met and decided it was time to start up their own company ‘Cabby Plumbers’.
All three students realised they had more in common as they all searched for a new challenge having several years experience as Black Cab drivers. They agreed there was not only a need for such specialist skills, but realised people simply need someone they can trust with their home improvements. Tony says ‘the fact that people trust us on a daily basis and have done so for years lets us to work towards building a business that allows us to transfer our existing reputation and help people further’.
WORK AROUND YOUR EXISTING JOB!
When speaking to Jamie, he said it was the flexibility of the plumbing course offered to them here at Able Skills that really attracted him to the centre. It allowed him to learn on weekends and more importantly around his existing job as a Black Cab driver. Having heard about us online it was Marc who explained he had previously witnessed how ‘lucrative the trade can be’ and thought it was time to give it a go himself. All three students had great things to say about their learning experience too stating the plumbing course was ‘very well taught’ and that the centre has ‘excellent facilities’.
We can all agree on the great reputation held by Black Cab Drivers and the driven trio now aim to surpass previous excellence with this new venture. Next on the list is to become Gas Safe Registered so they can offer the best service possible to all customers.
