New skills gained from electrical courses could help people improve their CV, since one source has suggested qualifications can help make up for lack of experience.

Senior consultant at The Write Stuff Peter Panayotou stated it certainly cannot do any harm to have extra skills and employers may be impressed that a person has completed some training while they are looking for work, rather than letting the opportunities come to them.

This implies it would be looked at favourably if a worker were to take electrical courses while they are searching for their next contract.

Mr Panayotou suggested that skills do not even have to be industry-specific, since an employer may be impressed by a qualification that looks irrelevant on first appearances.

He explained: "A lot of people underestimate the skills gained in another field that they think may be unrelated to the kind of job they are going for."

Patrick Kingsley recently wrote in the Guardian that it is important to back up your skills on a CV with qualifications.
