Graduates from plumbing courses have been requested by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) to hand over any unpaid taxes.

The Plumbers Tax Safe Plan (PTSP) announced by the HMRC is aimed at anyone working in the plumbing and heating sector who has not declared their full income to the body.

Tradesmen who have completed plumbing courses that come forward themselves over the issue will face lower charges than those who are discovered to be concealing some of their forms of income by the HMRC.

"If you decide to take advantage of PTSP, you can stop worrying about what might have happened had HMRC found out that you'd not been telling them about all of your income," it said in a statement.

Homeowners were recently advised of the importance of contacting a qualified tradesman to carry out work at their home by Ivor Bates, director of Ivor Bates Heating and Plumbing.
