How to gain a Tiling NVQ at Able Skills

tiling nvqTiling is an immensely popular trade and here at Able Skills we are constantly fully booked with students looking to get started in the trade. Whether it’s to learning some basic skills or go the whole way and get the Tiling NVQ, we have the courses available.

We have been running tiling courses successfully for over ten years and we have seen so many students make life changing careers from their courses. So often we see students come to Able Skills to get out of a job they hate and into a trade that they love by the end of it. From office jobs to retail workers, we see them all come to train and make a change at Able Skills.

Our shorter tiling courses are most popular with bathroom installers and even those looking to carry out some DIY tiling jobs in their own homes. From introduction to advanced 5 day courses we offer a full range that allows our students to get all the skills they need to reach their goals.

However, are most popular route being the tiling NVQ courses. These are extremely popular as those who are looking to start a whole new career in the industry can get all the training and qualifications they need. A tiling NVQ is required to be able to gain a CSCS Skilled workers card that will gain them work as a Tiler on-site.

We have a variation of routes to gaining the NVQ depending on what background you are coming from. Firstly, if we have the Level 2 NVQ Tiling Course that starts complete beginners with an eight week course and then onto gaining the NVQ with site assessments.

Our next route is becoming more popular due to the need for a CSCS Card. We offer two routes to NVQ for experienced workers. The first is the EWPA (Experienced Worker Practical Assessment) this is for Tilers that have been working in the industry for five years or more and can provide evidence of this. This will include a profiling session at our centre then followed by a practical assessment in our tiling centre at Able Skills/

Secondly, we have the OSAT (On-Site Assessment) this is for the tilers that have been working in the industry for under five years and now need the tiling NVQ. This will include a profiling session and then some on-site assessments at your place of work.
