Industry professionals who have taken an electrical or plumbing course could soon find that their technical skills are in high demand during a new £23 million project in Stafford town centre.

Staffordshire county council recently announced that contracting company VolkerFitzpatrick has been appointed to work alongside developers Stoford in delivering a building that will house new council offices and accommodation for close to 1,700 employees who work there.

The Tipping Street project aims to make the transformed offices 60 per cent more energy efficient and leader of Staffordshire county council Philip Atkins commented that high-quality tradespersons who live nearby are sure to benefit.

He said: "The construction phase of the project will see major investment in Stafford town centre. It will boost the local economy and the developers are committed to using local skilled labour wherever possible."

VolkerFitzpatrick was founded in 1921 and has an annual turnover of close to £400 million.
