We are now offering online 18th Edition courses!

We are now offering online 18th Edition courses!
After the announcement on Monday outlining the latest coronavirus lockdown here in the UK - At Able Skills we have been working to find alternative training methods for those in need of high-quality teaching. When looking to become an electrician everyone at some point will need to learn the 18th Edition also known as the Wiring Regulations. These are a set of guidelines that outlines health and safety precautions and create the industry standard for electrical installations. Usually we run a 3-day course that is taught within a classroom. The course is completely theory-based which is why we can teach this topic remotely without losing any quality. Currently we have spaces next month starting on the 22nd & 26th of February as well as dates throughout the next couple of months!

Remote 18th Edition courses here at Able Skills.
What is the 18th Edition?
The 18th Edition, again, is the latest version of the wiring regulations a set of guidelines that outline the industry standard for electrical installations ensuring installers are conducting themselves in the safest possible manner. These guidelines are regularly updated to coincide with the constant changes in technology and the way that we interact with electrics. All professional electricians should have a good working knowledge of these regulations making it an essential subject for any aspiring trader. If you don’t have an understanding of the 18th Edition, or don’t know what the regulations include, your installations may not meet the current standard, which could mean that your installations are unsafe or inefficient.
How would this online course work?
As this course is usually taught in a classroom setting the experience will not be to different remotely. You will learn the wiring regulations alongside your group and guided by one of our talented electrical instructors in an aim to gain familiarity with the layout, content and application of BS 7671:2018 - 18th Edition Regulations. You'll come to grips with the what the guidelines mean, what the key definitions are and generally gain a sense of how these regulations apply to real life and how to implement them into your workflow as an electrician whilst carrying out electrical installations. Your instructor will work at a pace that suits your entire group and he will make sure you are fully prepared for the City & Guilds 18th Edition test which is a 2-hour multiple-choice, on-line examination. The exam is 'open book', meaning that you will be able to look up wiring regs and refer to the 18th edition book during the exam process.
