What You’ll Learn

You will learn the skills required to become a Plumber and receive training to start your journey towards becoming a Gas Engineer. This package is suited to those of you who know a Gas Safe registered Engineer who would be prepared to take you under their wing to enable you to complete the mandatory portfolio of competence.

The Plumbing aspects

This is an industry accredited Plumbing qualification and you will learn about the various requirements of domestic plumbing. Topics of learning range from health and safety, electrical principles and processes, scientific principles, common plumbing processes, cold water systems, domestic hot water systems, sanitation, central heating systems and drainage systems

The Gas aspects

This Gas Managed Learning Programme has been put together by the instructors at Able Skills to ensure a sound and comprehensive set of learning is delivered to our students in order for them to go out and work competently and safely on various gas appliances.

You will gain a great insight into the Gas industry and the training will cover a variety of topics including gas appliance functions, the basic principles of flues and combustion, legislation, tightness testing, pipework requirements, gas safety controls, flueing, ventilation and unsafe situations.

How You’ll Learn

Both the Plumbing and Gas courses are a mixture of practical and classroom based tuition and progress is monitored by way of multiple choice exams and practical assessments.

Courses Open To You After

Following on from this package, you may wish to consider upgrading to a level 3 Plumbing qualification (you will not need to repeat the gas aspect of the qualification so you will only need to do 6 weeks). If you do not want to achieve level 3 but require some additional plumbing and gas related qualifications, you could consider courses like Water Regulations, Energy Efficiency or Unvented Hot Water Systems. If you are looking to achieve an NVQ in Plumbing, this is also available at Able Skills.

Additional Info

To help your success on the plumbing course, we will provide you with a level 2 Plumbing reference book and a free tool-kit. To assist you throughout the gas training process, we will provide you with a comprehensive training manual and also a gas portfolio at the end. The next stage for you is to then get this portfolio completed by working under supervision of a Gas Safe registered Engineer and once this is done, you will then be in a position to book your ACS (gas exams). If you cannot source a placement, you may wish to consider our Plumbing  Training Package as this includes all of the stages that you are required to go through to achieve Gas Safe registration.

Both the level 2 Plumbing and the Gas training aspects of this package are available Full Time, Part Time at Weekends (on a 2 weekend on and 2 weekend off basis) and the Plumbing aspect is also available as a Flexible Training option whereby you can attend in pre-designated separate weekly blocks over a longer period of time and also as a Home Study option.

All courses can be booked with small deposits and any balance can be spread over the period of the training – Interest Free! If you live too far away to commute daily, we have accommodation available for £20 per night.  Able Skills is open 7 days every week and we encourage visitors to our centre so please feel free to pop in and see what we do - No Appointment Required * No Sales * No Pressure
