5 Day Intensive Carpentry Course from Able Skills
At Able Skills we offer hands-on, practical Carpentry training. The course is designed so that you are involved at every stage and are participating throughout.
We can provide you with a 5 day intensive short course or, should you want to learn more and a career in Carpentry is your choice, Able Skills can offer you a City & Guilds Carpentry qualification. Please visit our City & Guilds page for full details of courses, content and payment plans.
All training provided is located in our City & Guilds Approved Centre. This ensures the standard of training provided is equal for everyone, regardless of whether you are with us for 5 days or longer.
Our Carpentry training department adheres to City & Guilds requirements, therefore excellent facilities are in place for you to work through this intensive training course.
All instructors in place are fully qualified and are assessors in their own right.
No previous experience is required to take part in this course. The course is suitable to anyone who is looking to complete a DIY project or who is looking to move forward and develop a career in carpentry.
Throughout this 5 day course you will be taught how to:
- Use hand tools such as chisels, planes etc.
- Cut basic joints
- Cut and fit dado rails, architraves, skirtings and doorstops
- Erect a stud-wall
- Fit a door lining/frame
- Hang a door
- Fit a Lock
Throughout your training, carpentry tools and equipment will be fully supplied and demonstrated.
You will be involved at every stage and will be participating throughout the carpentry course. It is therefore recommended you bring suitable clothing and for your own safety, steel capped footwear is essential.
Do not hesitate to ask the carpentry instructor at any stage during the course if you feel unsure of anything.
After you have trained with us, we would be happy for you to contact the centre at any time, either by phone or E-MAIL, should you need clarification or advice on any carpentry you are attempting. These courses are open to anyone, regardless of gender or status.
At the end of you Carpentry course you will receive an Able Building Skills Certificate of competency and you will also have a portfolio of the stages of the work you have carried out during the period you have trained with us. This may assist you in gaining employment at a later stage.
