Welcome to Able Skills 5 day Introductory Painting & Decorating Courses

If you need to learn various aspects of decorating, Able Skills can provide you with a comprehensive 5 day introductory course which will ensure that you finish your training competent enough to undertake a number of decorating tasks.

Our 5 day Introductory Painting & Decorating Course will provide you with a great insight and understanding of decorating whether you are a total beginner or have some previous decorating experience. If you set out with the intention of attending purely for the purposes of DIY then you will not be disappointed; this decorating course will meet your expectations and you will be ready to give any decorating project a go.

At the same time, if you have a desire to move onto a Painting & Decorating qualification, then this will also act as your underpinning knowledge to move forward when you are ready.

We are not claiming to make you a qualified Painter/Decorator in 5 days but we do promise to provide you with dedicated Painting & Decorating training and an excellent opportunity to progress further if you want. If you feel that 5 days is not enough to fulfil your needs, Able Skills also offers a 5 day Advanced Painting & Decorating course.

We try to make all training as accessible as possible to everyone so if you have weekly commitments but would still like to learn Painting & Decorating, we offer Painting & Decorating training over 2 consecutive weekends.

Our 5 day Painting & Decorating courses will act as a great basis for work within the industry but we do recommend that you consider additional training if you want to sustain a long term career as a Painter/Decorator.

After having spent a week with us Painting & Decorating on an introductory course you may decide to upgrade to a more comprehensive package, this can be  4, 5, 6, 7 or 8 week training options which will provide you with the skills and knowledge to work professionally as a Painter/Decorator.

Painting & Decorating Progression and Qualifications

At Able Skills, we also deliver training and assessment for qualifications:

• 4 Week C&G Painting & Decorating Qualification
• 5 Week C&G Painting & Decorating Qualification
• 6 Week Level 2 C&G Painting & Decorating Qualification
• 7 Week Level 2 C&G Painting & Decorating Qualification or even an
• 8 Week Level 3 Painting & Decorating Qualification

These longer training plans delve that little bit deeper into Painting & Decorating and gives you the opportunity to look at your technique, gain confidence and build speed. These particular Painting & Decorating training courses cover additional specialist decorating and other decorating related areas so that Painting & Decorating for a living will come easy to you.

If you decide to upgrade, we will adjust your training time and fees to accommodate for the 5 day Painting & Decorating course you have already completed. Whether you do decide to upgrade or not, the week spent with us will not have been wasted as you will have gained a great deal of practical knowledge.

As a City & Guilds Approved Centre, with Assessors and Internal Verifiers on site, you can be assured that equal training and facilities will be offered to everyone attending all courses.

Able Skills 5 day Introductory  Painting & Decorating Course

During our 5 day Painting & Decorating course we will cover as many aspects of decorating that we can and feel confident that after spending that short time with us, you will be ready to tackle everyday decorating requirements.

Should you be looking to do a DIY project or for a change in career, we feel confident that any of the Painting & Decorating courses we offer will suit your needs.

During this 5 day Intensive Painting & Decorating Course you will learn:

• Health and Safety, PPE and safe working practices
• Correct use of tools and equipment used in this trade
• Preparation of new and old surfaces ready for painting
• Repairing imperfections in walls and wood ready for painting
• Application of water based products such as primers, undercoats, emulsion and eggshell using brushes and rollers
• Application of oil based products
• Cutting around obstructions, openings, fittings such as radiators, windows, sockets and switches
• How to use a roller effectively
• Cutting, pasting and hanging wallpaper

During this Painting & Decorating 5 day course, all tools and materials will be supplied for your use, we will also explain and demonstrate all the different materials used for different surfaces.

This is a hands-on, practical course and you will be involved at every stage and will be participating throughout the course. It is therefore recommended you bring suitable clothing and for your own safety, steel capped footwear is essential.

At the start of this Painting & Decorating course, you will be presented with a folder containing a day by day schedule of the different stages you will be covering throughout the period of your Painting & Decorating training.

In addition, you will also be provided with various different Painting & Decorating notes as well as useful and relevant paper work for when you undertake Decorating tasks at home or at work.

I heard about Able Skills though word and mouth and also on a search of the internet. I got told about Able Skills and how good it was there and also when I phoned up to book my course they understood how the army even better than me. It is close to my home and how easy it was to book and also that they have accommodation for only £20 a night is very reasonable. I am on my 2^nd week of an 8 week painting and decorating course and I have learnt so much already even though i have had previous experience, the knowledge that mark passes on is second to none, very professional and knowledgeable and he is always aware at what stage you are at within your NVQ. How he keeps up is unbelievable.
