3 Week Hands-On Painting & Decorating Course

Have you considered learning painting & decorating but do not want to undertake a qualification? If so, this may be the Painting & Decorating course or you.

This 3 weeks of hands on ‘reality’ training will cover all of the basic and essential skills that any Painter/Decorator will need in order to provide a competent service to any potential customer.

Qualifications are not for everyone and so this course has been put together for those of you who just want to come in and get on with learning the trade of Painting & Decorating.

This 3 weeks of hands on Painting & Decorating training will see you progress from a novice to a competent Painter/Decorator with the course designed to build your skills gradually until all aspects of decorating become second nature and at this Centre where ‘reality’ is important, this is easily achieved.

We will provide you with the Painting & Decorating training to meet the standards as required by City & Guilds but without the requirement of portfolio building and completion.

We will also build on this to give you much more so that you will fully understand what Painting & Decorating is all about. The emphasis for us is on meeting and exceeding our customers’ expectations.

Painting & Decorating Course Structure, times and fees

This course can be covered in 3 consecutive weeks, broken up into 3 separate training blocks or even covered over weekends if you have ongoing weekly commitments. At Able Skills we aim to make our training as accessible as is possible and additionally we offer a payment plan which, following a deposit, is on a pay as you train basis.

This is a hands-on, practical course, it is therefore recommended that you bring suitable clothing and for your own safety, steel capped footwear is essential. All other PPE, tools and materials will be provided throughout your training period.

Guidance on choosing the right training centre

We are aware that there are many Training Centres in the UK offering various qualifications and we would advise caution when you are ready to book courses of this nature.

We recommend that you confirm the Training Centre’s City & Guilds Registration number and also that you enquire as to the qualifications of their staff.

In order for your Painting & Decorating training course to run swiftly and smoothly, you should ensure that your chosen training centre has qualified Instructors, Assessors and Internal Verifiers.

Better still, visit the centre and view the staff’s qualifications as well as the facilities available.

You should be allowed access to see the training areas, chat to instructors, have access to past student feedback forms and additionally, chat to existing students.

Check if the course will be completed solely at the training centre or whether you are actually also being sold ‘home study’ units.

Lastly, confirm the timings of your course. If your intended course is to be achieved in blocks then be sure that you can return to train at a time of your choice and that you will not be left waiting for months on end to get back in.

Able Skills can offer you a variety of training qualifications if that is your preference. We can provide training for a City & Guilds 6218 Certificate or additionally for the purposes of achieving an NVQ.

This 3 week Painting & Decorating course will provide you with in depth training to cover 7 areas of essential Painting & Decorating.

Even though you will not be going through a qualification process your progress will be consistently assessed by our qualified Painting & Decorating instructors, giving you the same benefits as someone who might be training with us for qualification purposes.

The areas in which you will be trained on are:

•    Painting a timber window frame
•    Applying emulsion to wall by roller
•    Painting doors and frames
•    Applying oil based paint to walls by roller
•    Removing and hanging wallpaper to walls
•    Hanging paper to ceilings and painting
•    Working with hardwood finishes

These areas of Painting & Decorating meet the standard requirements of most Painting & Decorating jobs so you will have the skills in place to deal with every day painting/decorating situations.

3 Week Hands On Painting & Decorating Course Fees and Payment Plan

At Able Skills we try to make our courses as affordable as possible. The cost for this 3 weeks Hands On Painting & Decorating course is £995.00 (inc vat). We require a £500 deposit to secure a start date and the remaining balance can be spread over the 3 week training period.
