Plumbing Courses from Able Skills
Able Skills offers 5 day plumbing courses, which is entirely hands on and will suit a wide variety of people across the board.
As a City & Guilds approved training centre, you can be assured that all facilities and staff in place are to the highest of standards and that we will deliver quality plumbing training to your requirements.
Able Skills has attempted to cater for all by arranging these intensive plumbing courses. Whether you are looking to complete a course for DIY purposes or considering a change of occupation, we feel that everyone’s needs can be met.
Both Kitchen and Bathroom plumbing features are covered, including learning how to cope with any emergency plumbing tasks around the house.
We are aware that plumbing tasks are varied and complex and we are not offering this course with a promise of making you a qualified plumber. What we are offering is the opportunity for you to learn the basic principles of domestic plumbing in order for you to tackle some of those jobs around the house that have been needing attention for some time.
Alternatively, you can use this intensive plumbing course as a stepping stone to a plumbing career.
If after completing this course you find that the time spent with us has been an experience that you would like to continue, then you can consider our 5 day Advanced Plumbing Course or look towards City & Guilds qualifications, a career in plumbing, NVQs or even gas qualifications and eventual Corgi registration.
Able Skills considers itself to be a progression training centre. We can offer you every opportunity to move forward in whichever direction you choose. If you decide after a short 5 day plumbing course that you might like a career as a qualified plumber then we can offer this to you.
If this is the path which interests you, Able Skills offers the City & Guilds 6129, level 2 in basic plumbing studies, we can also assess you once you are working within the plumbing industry in order to obtain City & Guilds 6089, NVQ level 2.
If however, you are simply looking to tackle plumbing jobs for yourself or for others, then this course will meet any expectation you may have.
Our hands on training, completed in a spacious and friendly environment will cover:

- Fault Finding
Our plumbing department provides a fully operational system which ensures reality and covers all areas you will have to deal with once you commence work within the home.
We will supply all plumbing materials throughout your training time, provide and demonstrate all necessary tools to complete tasks thoroughly and competently and give you the skills and confidence needed to take on your plumbing requirements. As well as plumbing tasks, we will also demonstrate other important factors to maintain your safety (PPE) and additionally, encourage you to keep potential customers happy by remaining clean and tidy throughout any job you do.
Our plumbing instructors have an abundance of qualifications as well as years of industry experience. They have tailored this plumbing course using all of their knowledge to ensure that they provide you with enough skills to attempt most domestic plumbing tasks. At the same time, they will also advise you on areas that you must not attempt without having had relevant training and qualification, ie: gas related and electrical installation tasks.
If the plumbing training you receive leaves you wanting to learn more and you want to broaden your horizons then Able Skills provides a wide variety of courses and qualifications covering the entire construction sector.
If you are still unsure if a plumbing career is for you or if you want to learn that little bit more and widen your skills knowledge, then Able Skills also offers a 5 day Advanced Plumbing course.
All Able Skills intensive and advanced plumbing courses are accompanied by extensive training notes and a competency certificate.
Gas Training: There is now an alternative route into the gas industry which is slightly more relaxed but still strictly governed. This route is known as the “Approved Prior Learning” route. A 5 day intensive plumbing course and a 5 day advanced plumbing course will now be acceptable as proof of having mechanical engineering skills which qualify you to enrol onto our Gas training course. It is essential you bring suitable clothing and for your own safety, steel capped footwear is essential.
Weekend plumbing courses:
These courses can also be covered over 2 consecutive week ends should you have other commitments which prevent you from attending Monday – Friday. Course content remains unaffected by this.
No previous plumbing experience is necessary in order to take part in any of these courses.
