Welcome to Able Skills 5 day Intensive Tiling Courses

For those of you new to the tiling industry or for those of you who have some tiling knowledge, Able Skills has devised an intensive Tiling course to teach you tiling from scratch.

This intensive tiling course is entirely hands on and you will develop tiling skills which will give you the confidence and knowledge to attempt tiling tasks after you have left the Centre.

Our Tiling instructors, Max and Terry, take total pride in their skills and are keen to pass their knowledge onto others who are eager to make a start in the tiling industry. The course they have devised will see you taken from novice to someone who has the confidence to tackle a tiling project.

We are not claiming to make you a qualified Tiler in 5 days but we do promise to provide you with dedicated tiling training and an excellent opportunity to progress further if you want.

Our 5 day tiling courses will act as a great basis for work within the tiling industry but we do recommend that you consider additional training if you want to sustain a long term career as a Tiler.

We try to make all training as accessible as possible to everyone so if you have weekly commitments but would still like to learn to tile, we offer tiling training over 2 consecutive weekends.

After having spent a week with us tiling on an intensive course you may decide to upgrade to more comprehensive packages, this can be 4, 6 or 8 week training options which will provide you with the skills and knowledge to work professionally as a Tiler.

These longer training plans delve that little bit deeper into tiling and gives you the opportunity to look at your technique, gain confidence and build speed. These particular tiling courses cover additional specialist tiling and other tiling related areas so that tiling for a living will come easy to you.

In addition, you will be taught how to build a working portfolio, how to gather evidence of your competence and you will fully understand what kind of evidence is relevant.

If you decide to upgrade, we will adjust your training time and fees to accommodate for the 5 day tiling course completed. Whether you do decide to upgrade or not, the week spent with us will not have been wasted as you will have gained a great deal of practical knowledge.

Additionally, if you would like to learn that little bit more about tiling, but do not want to commit to 6 or 8 weeks, we offer a 5 day Advanced Tiling Course, this is also available over weekends.

As a City & Guilds Approved Centre, with Assessors and Internal Verifiers on site, you can be assured that equal training and facilities will be offered to everyone attending all courses.

Able Skills Intensive 5 day Tiling Course.

During our 5 day tiling course we will cover every aspect of tiling that we can and feel confident that after spending that short time with us, you will be ready to tackle everyday tiling requirements. Should you be looking to do a DIY project or for a change in career, we feel confident that any of the tiling courses we offer will suit your needs.

5 Day Intensive Tiling Courses includes:

•    Setting out your tiling work.
•    Explaining all the different adhesives used for different surfaces.
•    Demonstrating all the tools required.
•    Cutting tiles using wet tile cutters, dry tile cutters, tile scribes, tile snips and tile saws.
•    Explaining tiling involving Borders, Diamonds and Patterns.
•    How to cut around windows and reveals.
•    How to cope with tiling difficult areas such as uneven walls.
•    How to tile angled ceilings and socket areas.
•    How to tile splash-backs.
•    How to tile around boxed in pipes.

All aspects of wall and floor tiling will be covered and both kitchen and bathroom tiling will be taught on this course.

You will work in an area equipped with sanitary ware so you will learn how to cut around obstacles such as WCs and pedestals using quality tools such as RUBI cutters. You will also be shown how to grout and finish to a high standard and how to use silicone sealants.

We will cover every aspect of tiling, and feel confident that after spending 5 or 10 days with us you will be ready to tackle everyday tiling requirements. Whether you are planning to do your own bathroom/kitchen or someone else’s, we feel this Tiling course will provide you with the confidence you need.

This course can also be covered over 2 consecutive week ends should you have other commitments which prevent you from attending Monday – Friday. Course content remains unaffected by this.

In addition, you can opt to spend a further 5 days with us on our Advanced Tiling Courses. This additional 5 day course will cover more complex areas of tiling.

During this 5 day tiling course, all tools and materials are supplied for your use. We will also explain and demonstrate all the different materials used for different surfaces.

This is a hands-on, practical tiling course and you will be involved at every stage and will be participating throughout. It is therefore recommended you bring suitable clothing and for your own safety, steel capped footwear is essential.

At the start of this Tiling course, you will be presented with a folder containing a day by day schedule of the different stages you will be covering throughout the period of your Tiling training.

In addition, you will also be provided with various different Tiling notes as well as useful and relevant paper work for when you undertake Tiling tasks at home or at work.
