Have you not heard of the 2396 electrical qualification? Here is everything you need to know about this Level 4 standard electrical qualification.

The 2396 qualification helps to develop the essential, up-to-date knowledge and techniques needed to professionally design and verify electrical systems. This Level 4 qualification is aimed at electricians who have completed their Level 2 and 3 electrical courses, have some experience in the industry and have a good understanding of inspection and testing.

At Level 4 there is an increased emphasis on working individually and an in depth understanding of BS 7671 Requirements for Electrical Installations is assumed.

The 2396 qualification is considered by many companies to be a prerequisite for designing safe installations and the course covers all the steps necessary to design an installation along with providing the information to allow the design to be installed and verified in order to meet the regulations.

Our electrical courses are extremely popular here at Able Skills and this course is no different. The course is run other five days, from Monday – Friday.

Assessment is via two units:

  1. A written examination taken in centre, the date set nationally by City & Guilds and
  2. A design project carried out in your own time.

The written paper is a three-hour, open book exam and you are permitted to take the following documents into the exam: BS 7671 17th Edition Wiring Regulations, On-site Guide and Guidance Note 3. The exam is marked externally by City and Guilds examiners.

The assignment is a project expected to take you at least 40 hours, including selecting and specifying equipment, preparing working drawings, and submitting calculations and expected test results in the form of an Operation and Maintenance manual. This is marked in house by your course tutor/s.

The next available date for this course is Monday 15th May, we regularly book quite far in advance with all our electrical courses due to popularity and this high levelled qualification is no different.
