Today in our busy bricklaying centre, our students are building and learning from our two instructors. We provide top quality practical experience and pass on understanding and knowledge. The guidance that has been learnt out in the field by our instructors is unmatched. Between them they have years in the sector which is extreemly valuable to students, they have a lifetime of bricklaying expertise to share and enrich peoples understanding with.

Interested in Taking a Bricklaying Course?

 

No Experience?

 

If you have no experience then the best option for you ideally is to take an Introduction to Bricklaying Course. This is obviously a great way to start if you literally have no experience as it will give you the foundation, and the basic understanding of the trade.

Don't worry about being judged or coming into our training centre with no clue about bricklaying, that is why we are here! We get students all the time taking Introductory classes in all diffrent trades, our instructors are friendly, polite and will help you to grasp the basics the best they can!

 

Some Experience?

 

There are multiple options for people with some experience in this trade, the opportunity to obtain a City & Guilds certificate in bricklaying is a good start. This accredited 3-week basic bricklaying qualification is an excellent start for anyone looking to begin training as a Bricklayer if that is all you are looking for then the City & Guilds Bricklaying Course is for you!

However, if you want to take bricklaying seriously and would like to take a full-time course that will fully prepare you to become a professional once leaving our training centre. Then your best option is to take a 10-week Level 2 Bricklaying Diploma.

During this 10-week period you'll learn: 

  • Building solid walling, isolated and attached piers
  • Interpreting working drawings to set out masonry structures
  • Construct cavity walling forming masonry structures

In addition to all this great practical experience and perspective, we will provide you with an understanding of Health & Safety on-site and how to conduct yourself in a work environment, the principles of construction and how to communicate properly on-site.

Experienced Worker seeking NVQ?

 

We offer a Level 2 NVQ Bricklaying Course that will prepare in every possible way to be successful in your NVQ assessment!

If you are already an experienced bricklayer and you are looking to gain a National Vocational Qualification then we have two options depending on how long you have been a professional! EWPA is for people who have been out working in the industry for more than 5 years. EWPA or Experienced Worker Practical Assesment is a fast track route, meaning you can be assessed here at Able Skills. 

If you have less than 5 years of experience on-site, then you will need to be assessed in a place of work. This means you have to be in employment, on-site to complete this competency test.
