The City & Guilds 2396 – Level 4 Award in Design of Electrical Installations Course is perfectly suited to those who hold Electrician Qualifications and have experience within the industry. Many electricians who decide to take this electrical course do so with the aim of developing an advanced set of skills and this qualification holds a prestigious reputation.

This Level 4 qualification is aimed at experienced electricians with a good knowledge of inspection and testing and will develop a deeper understanding of the principles of installation design and specification. The course is theory based, taking candidates from a basic knowledge of BS 7671 to a thorough grasp of design principles to meet the requirements of that standard. Skilled electrical designers are in demand and can generally command increased wages as discussed in our previous article.

The 2396 Electrical Course is classroom based and takes the candidates through a progression of exercises covering all aspects of the design process. Particular emphasis is placed on selection of equipment, load evaluation, circuit protection, cable selection and control of circuits in order to meet the requirements of the Wiring Regulations.

This 5 day course is examined by a three-hour open book written exam and a project completed in your own time, which is expected to take at least 40 hours. Should you wish to enrol, we welcome any phone calls or visits to our training centre to discuss more information on what you need to be made aware of in terms of what will be required by yourself to achieve this qualification.

The facilities speak for themselves and here at Able Skills, we truly pride ourselves on offering the best quality training courses in the UK.
